 Top 10 Books of 2025

Here is my Top 10 list of books from the last year. I read 61 books this year, just over 20,000 pages. For the first time in a few years, my book total is up, from 44 books last year. Yeah, this is just a bit late. I'm just listing the books for now; I may come back to do reviews later.

1. All the Colors of the Dark – Chris Whitaker

2. Atmosphere – Taylor Jenkins Reid

3. Dungeon Crawler Carl – Matt Dinimann

4. Wild Dark Shore – Charlotte McConaghy

5. So Far Gone – Jess Walter

6. The Impossible Fortune – Richard Osman

7. King Sorrow – Joe Hill

8. Desi Arnaz – Todd Purdum

9. The Fourth Consort – Edward Ashton

10. Automatic Noodle – Annalee Newitz

The runners-up.

Why We Love Football – Joe Posnanski

Buckeye – Patrick Ryan

My Friends – Fredrik Backman

Go As a River – Shelly Read

Gate of the Feral Gods – Matt Dinimann

The Way Up Is Death – Dan Hanks

And the worst book I read in 2025 was Deep Water by Emma Bamford. Unlikable characters and a plot that moves so, so slow.
